METH SAMPLING - WHICH TEST IS RIGHT?

Which sampling option is best for you?

      • METH SAMPLING ONLY
      • METH HAZARD SCREEN SURVEY

It is well documented that testing for meth is the best way to confirm whether or not there is contamination in the building. But which one is best suited for your needs.

METH SAMPLING ONLY - NOT RECOMMENDED - This bare bones service is inadequate for most clients. It involves no site survey or sampling report. The only information conveyed is the "Chain of Custody" and "Lab Report." Only those clients who are familiar with interpreting the lab results and can perform their own site assessment should contract the Meth Sampling Only service. SAMPLE LAB REPORT

BEWARE - The "Sampling Only" service is what is offered by almost every other inspection firm in Utah when you call around and ask about Meth Sampling.

METH HAZARD SCREEN SURVEY - RECOMMENDED - This is the service that is appropriate for most clients who want to balance a reasonable investment with a reasonable certainty. Fees start at $385 and increase with additional samples and larger structures. SAMPLE MHSS REPORT

VALUE - When the "Sample Only" and "Meth Hazard Screen Survey" services are compared, most clients realize that the extra investment in the MHSS provides them with so much more information.

STILL SKEPTICAL - Are you still skeptical? Then take a moment and review the sample LAB REPORT and then the sample METH HAZARD SCREEN SURVEY report. The lab report alone is inadequate. Put them both together and you have an powerful tool.

TESTING PRIVACY - We take every precaution to ensure privacy regarding the testing and results for meth. As a Certified Meth Sampler, we are not required by law to report "Hot" findings to either the health department or the law enforcement agencies. We ensure that the samples are drawn using modern protocols and then maintain the chain of custody as the samples are turned over to the lab. The results of the test are sent directly to us from the lab and then included with our Meth Hazard Screen Survey report.

WHO SHOULD HAVE TESTING PERFORMED - We recommend the service to all of the following individuals:

  • BUYERS - If you are buying a home or commercial property, then you should have it tested for meth contamination to protect your investment.
  • LANDLORDS - Landlords should test their units to ensure that their units are not being abused by the tenants.
  • SPOUSES - If you suspect meth use by your spouse, have your home or their car tested for meth contamination.
  • PARENTS - We also recommend that parents who suspects their kids should have their bedrooms and car tested.
  • EMPLOYERS - Employers who suspect meth use on their premises should have the buildings tested.

I am trying to figure out a person who should not have the test performed, and I can't think of anyone other than those parties that do not want to know for fear of finding out the results are high and decontamination is needed. That list may include sellers of real estate, agents representing the sellers, car salesmen, apartment owners that suspect contamination but don't want the liability that comes with knowing for sure. In other words, everybody who stands to lose if the home tests high with meth contamination would shun this service at every turn.

The building is entered. The sample is taken. The sample is dropped off at the lab. The report is issued by the lab. This limited service offers no report or evaluation by our firm and all questions are directed back to the lab. This service is ONLY recommended for those familiar with understanding lab reports and analyzing the conditions in the building. This is why we recommend our more complete Meth Hazard Screen Survey service.

CONCEALMENT - I am often brought in when a property is being sold or when an owner is suspicious of his tenants unusual activity. When it is announced that I am coming to test for meth, major clean-up ensues before my arrival. The clean-up efforts make it more difficult to identify meth contamination.

The homeowner level of pre-clean-up usually includes washing the walls and carpets, cleaning up both trash and debris, and getting everything associated with meth use off the property before I ever arrive. This makes the visual identification difficult, but it will not fool the sampling process, if the sampler knows where to best take samples.
